![]() ![]() It's fair to point out that Google Chrome isn't the only app that people complain about in this arena, but being one of the biggest and very much in the public eye, it does become an irresistible target for many. While for the casual user the security and privacy options seem complete and reassuring, more demanding users have expressed worry about the amount of data Google can see, and what, exactly, it does with that data. When it comes to security and privacy, we see one of the areas that Google hasn't quite managed to convince everyone about. It really contributes to a feeling of seamless browsing, which is really what the whole Chrome experience is about. Once you're logged in, you'll not only be able to access your saved information (like passwords, history, and bookmarks) across devices, but you'll also be able to access the very tabs you have open on the other device, which is something users very quickly become accustomed to and rely on. We're especially keen on the available on Chrome for Android. It offers everything we've come to expect from a mobile browser from excellent download management, bookmarks, and easy sharing to accessible customization options and intuitive tab management. Like its desktop-based counterpart, it's light and fast, easy to use, and looks good. In the meantime, other browsers have raced to catch up and the things that first marked Chrome as special are by now fairly average.Ĭhrome for Android is no exception. In the intervening years, it has continued to grow in popularity, but in the last few years, it seems to have slowed a little in terms of innovation ![]() Custom timelines let you create and manage public or private lists and use them as curated timelines. When Google Chrome was first released, it was billed as a lightening-fast browser that managed to outpace almost every other app on the market. A Profile Notes feature offers private annotations for user profiles to remind you about people you follow or who follow you. You’re free to create your own keyword or rules-based filters to hide tweets by specific users, keywords, or hashtags. Now exclusively for iOS and MacOS, it offers timeline and mute filters to customize what and who you see. ![]() Tweetbot gives you the flexibility to annotate your Twitter feed in any way that suits you. The Lite app is Android-only, but you can access a similar data-lite mode on iOS by opening the Twitter mobile site on Safari. It’s just as good as the full app, so you can be sure you’re not getting a lesser experience. This official app has been pared down to cut down on storage space and data requirements, weighing in at just 3MB and allowing you to only download the images or videos you want to see. If you’re on a plan with limited data or have a budget phone without much storage space, save space and data with Twitter Lite. Twitter doesn’t use much data by default, but if you’re on it a lot, those numbers can really ratchet up. But unfortunately for droids, it’s iOS-only. It even lets you use the iOS VoiceOver accessibility feature, 3D Touch, list management, and external keyboards. The app makes it easy to respond to tweets, view conversations, or post from alt accounts. You can filter out material or people you don’t want to hear from or about, and sync reading between mobile devices to pick up where you left off. A theme panel lets you tweak the app’s appearance, including color scheme, images, thumbnails, and fonts. By using Twitterific, you get a promotion-free, chronological tweet presentation, and the ability to search for the right meme or GIF to accompany your own tweets. Like many social networks, for Twitter to remain a free app, it is awash in ads and promoted posts. ![]() Green and orange dots on your iPhone?
